Legion blinked at this Quarian woman who… At least he thought was talking to him. He looked around to see if she was looking or waving at anyone else before shyly pointing at himself and asking in a shy, low voice:

"Are you talking to me…?"

"They… They go into the really dangerous places… I used… Used to be part of the Battalion, but I can’t serve anymore… Because of my… Anxiety and… Well… People don’t want to work with me… Because I’m… A cyborg…" Legion looked down with a really sad smile on his face, a hand touching his face for a short moment. "My friends in N7 went back to London the other week to get some intel, much like my friends and I did on Surkesh… Only their mission went… Better than ours…" Legion looked back up at Preeya. "Think of them… As… Better than the best… At least… That’s what Shepard called them…"
"You suffer from anxiety?" Preeya asked hesitantly - still patting his shoulder.
"I… I am sorry. May I ask what sort?"

It was a weird irony that Preeya - The potentially emotionally least experienced person in the galaxy developed sympathy for a stranger.
"…What do you mean by ‘they do not want to work with you because you are a cyborg’?
What you are does not reveal anything regarding your work-ethic within your squad, so how does this happen to matter to anyone?”

"I don’t think we've met."

Preeya tilted her head and looked at the woman in front of her.
"Judging by the size of the Citadel and the count of it’s inhabitants, this is very likely, yes."
She did some steps towards her, trying to find out, whether she was able to identify the woman. As to be expected, Preeya was not able to do so.
"What is your name?" She finally politely asked.

"My name is Letovis Kryik. And yours?" Letovis asked with a slight flare of her mandibles in a friendly smile. She looked down at her, her hands clasped behind her own back, "Yes it is quite big, like its own small planet."

Preeya did a polite hailing bow towards Letovis.
"Pleased to meet you, Ma’am. My name is Preeya’Lem."
Invisibly smiling behind her visor Preeya cheerfully nodded.
"You are right about this. Actually this was even the reason that made me move and work here. I enjoy the Citadel and all of it’s traffic. It is the thing that - in my opinion - resembles life on the Flotilla the most."

"I see…would you say its better here than the Flotilla?" Letovis had only heard of the fleet, never actually been there. But she was curious about it.
"It is nice here, certainly better than Omega." Which was very true. Last time Letovis had traveled there she almost got killed by a gang just because of her species.

"This is a very interesting question.
To be honest, I usually do not think in terms like ‘better’ or ‘worse’, because they seem to be rather… Insufficient to portray things.
But I think “better than Omega”  might indeed be suitable in this special case.
I have never been there myself yet, but I used to have acquaintances there. Obviously not a pleasant place to stay.”
She tilted her head, then looked at the woman in front of her again.
"What about you? Did you come here from Omega?"

Legion blinked at this Quarian woman who… At least he thought was talking to him. He looked around to see if she was looking or waving at anyone else before shyly pointing at himself and asking in a shy, low voice:

"Are you talking to me…?"

"I’m Legion…" Legion said softly, allowing his hood to part from the right side of his face for a short moment until a librarian passed by them, which caused him to hide his face again. "I… I can’t… The only person that never really had a problem… Was Shepard, and I don’t… I don’t know where she went…" Legion looked up at her with a small smile, his silver eyes shining with a curious glint. He looked to her cane for a short moment, before back up at Preeya.

"Pardon… My asking, but… Why do you… Have a cane…?" He asked, leaning to the side to look at both of her legs to see if they were fine. Legion was fairly curious about this Quarian, because she was curious about him. "Did… Did you hurt yourself… During the war?"

"Pleased to meet you, Legion." Preeya answered, nodding at him. "My name is Preeya’Lem."  She quickly added, her eyes still attentively resting on Legions face. She still failed to find anything disturbing about it.
Seeing him hiding his face again after a stranger passed them made Preeya feel surprisingly sad though. Yet she did not express that, but replied.
"Shepard? You mean Commander Shepard, the war hero? I assume it must have been… An honour meeting her. Meeting that… Entire crew, all of them… What did you have to do with Shepard if I may ask?”

Seeing him smile however made her smile as well.
"You know: Like the commander I do not have a problem with your appearance at all. If you do not believe me, it might be useful to know that I… See no use in lying. Not to mention that I am not even… Talented at making lies believable at all… No one ever needs to hide themselves from me."

She leaned back in her chair a little, hoping that he was able to understand her motivation.
"Always feel free to ask anything that… Comes to your mind." Preeya quickly threw in in a calming tone. "…You do not have to… Worry about making me feel… Uncomfortable. To answer your question. Yes, I had been hurt during the war. A maintenance tunnel collapsed with me in it, crushing great parts of my lower body…
…What happened to you, if I may ask?”

"… I was on a mission with… A few of my friends… Two Vorcha, Gretak and Iksis, 2 Salarians, Draelus and Taelan and my best friend… He was a Turian, Veneficus… We… We were on Firebase Jade… On Sur’Kesh, getting back some… Intel for the STG…" Legion shifted uncomfortably as he recalled evey single event that happened. "We had just finished up… When the Banshee came out of no where… Everyone had gotten on the extraction shuttle except me… And Draelus and Taelan… Draelus hit the Banshee with an Incinerate… And Taelan hit it with another… Which caused a Fire Explosion…" Legion stared hard at the ground as tears began falling from his face. "They… The Salarians convinced the transport to leave me… But… Gretak, Iksis and Veneficus came to get me… I lost 2 good friends and nearly got 3 of them killed…"

Preeya had not been prepared for what she heard and saw now.
A man she just recently met told her about his losses.
While Preeya herself never really lost a close person, she actually was able to imagine how Legion might have had felt, since she knew loneliness, and considered it to be a very similar state.
As she realized that he was apparently starting to cry, Preeya hesitantly reached out for the man’s face, resting her hand on one of his cheeks while trying to wipe away the tears of one of his eyes with her thumb.
"I… I am very… Sorry. I did not intend to… Bring back terrible memories and… Hurt you…"
Slightly helpless she looked at him.
"I… Wish I could say something to… Make you… Feel better.
The truth is… I have no idea how to maintain a conversations like this. But I will… Try my very best… If you need someone to listen to you, or… I do not know… Simply be there, I will… Help you wherever I can…”

"Don’t be sorry… Veneficus, Iksis and Gretak are fine now, and they serve with Storm Killer Battalion on Palaven under my Blood Brother, Brigadier General Isaiah Williams… As for Traelan and Draelus… They’re serving a life sentence on a prison ship…." Legion smiled at Preeya, placing a sleeved hand on top of her visored head. "And Williams also served with Shepard for a few years along side me. I know he’ll keep them safe." Legion leaned down and hugged her tightly, rubbing her back softly as he finished crying. "You’re a nice person, Miss Preeya… I… I’m thankful that… Someone actually wanted to listen to … To my story…"

Legion soon let go of her and sunk back deeper into his chair, a relieved sigh coming from him. “Have you ever heard of Storm Killer Battalion…?”

"I am glad to hear that it apparently turned it apparently happened to end up better for those close to you. Why did Traelan and Draelus end up on a prison ship? Also… Why did they intend to leave you previously?"
As she realized that he had come to hug her Preeya invisubly raised an eyebrow behind her mask, then hesitantly wrapped her arms around him.
This was unexpected.
Yet pleasant.
"Take your time Legion. I am always willing to help. I wish I could give you actual advice though. Yet I gladly will listen to you as long and as often you wish."
She gently patted his shoulder.
As he asked her whether she ever heard of Storm Killer Battalion she tilted her head and gave him a blank look.
"Not as far as I remember. I actually have my main focus on scientific matters, such as theoretical physics or stellar evolution. A part of, why I consider myself… Unable to give you proper advice, you know?"

✖ for a tattoo headcanon (One they have or one they want)

Preeya does not have any tattoos (yet), but she considers them to be very interesting/artful/beautiful to look at on others.

If she was to be tattooed, she either would chose the name/sign/logo of a close (very, very VERY close!) person or a picture of the Aeymar (the ship on which she grew up) to be tattooed to one of her temples.
(That’s a quite unusual place for tattoos, but I think a very relevant one: It can be seen by everyone, and it is a very sensitive area of your head. :) )

Preeya nodded while looking up towards its ‘face’
"Yes I am. I think I have not seen you before, therefore… Pleased to met you.
She curiously tilted her head while walking some steps towards it.

Legion quickly pulled his hood over the right side of his face to hide the burn scars, and slipped both hands deeper inside of the sleeves they were in. He then waved sheepishly at Preeya, a sheepish smile adorning the unburnt side of his face.

"Hello…" He said quietly, the smile soon fading as he noticed some other people staring at him, which caused his to sink down low into a nearby seat.

As the other person waved at Preeya she hesitantly returned his gesture and did some steps towards him.
Recognizing him trying to hide one side of his face from her she tilted her head in confusion. Even though she was not exactly sure about his species though, she did not see anything disturbing (yet) or considered him - compared to asaroid-species-standards - to be ugly.
Slowly walking towards him she alsorealized that he appeared to dislike the attention of the other people casually walking by. While Preeya usually was a person who gladly enjoyed to be amongst others, she of course knew that many others did not share that preference of hers.
"Is everything alright, sir?" She aksled in a curious - almost innocent - manner while still slowly approaching him.

"I… People don’t generally like cyborgs… Disfigured cyborgs even less so…" Legion said, showing Preeya the scarred side of his face for a quick moment before covering it back up. Legion looked down at his feet, not wanting to look back up at anyone. "You… You can go now, if you want… Wouldn’t be surprised…"

Preeya tilted her head and looked at him. Hearing this made her thoughtfully bite her lower lip. People usually did not like Quarians either. Disfigured quarians like herself less so. An interesting irony Preeya however did not consider important enough to discuss it at the moment.
"I am not ‘general people’."
Looking at his face she came a bit closer. “What happened to you? Do you need help?”
Even as he stated that she might go now, Preeya simply remained where she was. basically because she did not wish to leave.
"In that case I obviously are about to surprise you." She hesitantly replied, looking at a seat next to him.
"Mind if I sit down?" She asked.

Legion stared at her a short moment before nodding at her, gesturing the seat to her left. “I’m… I’m fine… I’ve… Looked like this for a long time… I… I can manage…” Legion said, picking up a book to deter other people from talking with him or Preeya. “So… You say you’re not normal…? Is it… As bad as mine…?” He asked, pointing at his face with a sleeve covered hand.

Even though he stated that he was able to manage, a part of Preeya was surprisingly doubtful about that.
"Yet you appear to hide your face from the people."
Slowly taking a seat and then casually toying with her cane, she kept looking at his face.
"I do not think you should hide. I am not an expert on things like these, but I think I consider your face to be…" She was thinking for a second, trying to find a suitable word. "…Pretty."
Again she stopped for a moment, hoping that he realized that this was not sarcasm.
"From everything I have learned so far; If people do not accept you as what you are, you do not need them. So there is no point in sparing their potential emotions by covering yourself.
I also would not call your state ‘bad’, to quote you though.”
She leaned forward in her seat, trying to get a better look at his face.
"But to answer your question. I am ‘different’ enough to be not assumed to feel like most other people do - I think and feel different than the statistic majority. Yet I would neither call this better or worse.”
Thoughtfully fumbling on her cane she finally realized, that she had no idea who that man even was - Yet thy were maintaining a surprisingly serious and intimate conversation.
"What is your name, Sir?" She finally asked.

☮ for an embarrassing headcanon ((My turn! ))

There are so many colourful embarrassing things about this character, where do I start? XD

# She has huge difficulties to keep faces in mind and tell people (who do not happen to be close colleagues or friends of hers) apart from each other. She has to completely reply on ID-tags on her helmet’s HUD.

# Saying that she was ‘afraid’ in the dark might sound a bit too intense, but she does feel not comfortable in darkness either. She needs to have a little light next to her when going to bed.
(The story behind this is, that she was buried alive for several days in utter darkness, which gave her some traumatic experience. She however does not realize this yet.)

# 99% of her sexual experience was was reached with her omni-tool and extranet-turtorials.

# She has more emotional ties towards characters in holovid games than towards her father.

# She likes to dance when she considers herself to be alone. Yet she is horrible at dancing (She even was horrible before her leg was crushed, so there is no excuse for her.)
She however had been caught dancing, singing and re-enacting scenes from musicals several times - Most of the times by people who already did consider her to be a freak…

# Her first (and only ever openly admitted) crush was on “Commander Kirian” the main character of a holovid show of the same name.
((It’s mine-and-some-friend’s non-canon Mass Effect equivalent of Doctor Who.))
